About the desk
Who writes the Court Shark Tennis Desk, what it covers and how an article is checked before it is published.
The Court Shark Tennis Desk publishes match previews before play, analysis after the result, player news with the numbers behind the story, and weekly notes on how our model has performed.
Where the numbers come from
Every article starts from Court Shark's own data: completed ATP, WTA and Challenger results, serve and return statistics, rankings, head-to-head records and the win probabilities our model published before each match. When an article cites a number, that number comes from this data, and the charts and tables in the article are drawn from the same figures.
How an article is checked
Before an article is published, every number in it is checked against the data it came from, and the text is checked against our editorial standards. An article that fails a check is not published.
What the desk does not do
The desk does not accept payment for coverage, and it does not present a probability as a promise. A model estimate is a statistical view of a match, not a prediction that one result will happen.
