Snigur vs Bondar Prediction: Guangzhou 2026 Round of 32
Snigur's hard-court return record separates her from Bondar, but their similar holding rates support only a narrow pick in Guangzhou.
Daria Snigur faces Anna Bondar in Guangzhou's round of 32. Her hard-court return record supports a narrow advantage, not a decisive one: Court Shark's model gives Snigur a 55% chance.
A place in the next round, with neither player in form
The round of 32 in Guangzhou offers Daria Snigur and Anna Bondar a place in the round of sixteen. Snigur's hard-court return advantage makes her the pick, but the serving records do not support the premise that she leads in both departments. The distinction matters here.
Snigur entered ranked No. 40, while Bondar was No. 75, making this an opening assignment in which the higher-ranked player has reasons for caution. Snigur had lost her last two matches, and Bondar had lost her last three. Neither brought a winning run into Monday's match, so the more useful separation comes from their longer hard-court records rather than their immediate results.

Each dot is one of the WTA top 100 with enough matches in the last 52 weeks. Daria Snigur is 12th of 64; Anna Bondar ranks ahead of 17 of 64.

| Daria Snigur | 38.8% | 12th of 64 |

Snigur's advantage comes on return, not serve
Over the past year on hard courts, Snigur held 69% of her service games, while Bondar held 70%. Bondar had the slight edge. Those figures suggest that Snigur cannot count on a stronger service record to protect her from pressure or compensate for a quiet returning day.
The separation appeared on return: Snigur broke in 49% of return games, against Bondar's 29%. That is the clearest reason to favor Snigur, because comparable holding records leave return effectiveness as the major difference between their records on this surface.
Snigur's sample covered 58 matches, compared with 32 for Bondar, so neither record rested on a handful of appearances. These were records against different opponents, however, rather than a direct test of how either player's return performs against the other's serve. My reading is that Snigur has the stronger route to repeated break opportunities, not an advantage in every part of the service game.
Bondar can narrow the match by protecting serve
Bondar's route is concrete: keep her service performance close to its established level and make Snigur win without her usual frequency of breaks. Recent results leave room for that outcome. Snigur went 5-5 in her last ten hard-court matches, while Bondar went 4-6. The gap was modest. Snigur's strong return record had not translated into consistently winning recent results on the surface.
Their only previous meeting went to Bondar in Prague in 2020, but it was on clay and offers little direct guidance for this assignment. A deciding set would not supply a clear historical edge either: Snigur won 22 of 49 career deciders. Bondar won 38 of 84 career deciders. Those records make it difficult to argue that Snigur's return advantage would necessarily carry through if Bondar extended the match.
The prediction
Court Shark's model gives Snigur a 55% chance of winning, while the market consensus has her at 66%. Both favor Snigur. The difference is in confidence: the model describes a close match, whereas the market gives her a more substantial advantage despite the similar holding records.
Court Shark's AI analyst, which reads the matchup without the market, also picks Snigur, agreeing with the model's choice. The tennis case rests on her return advantage rather than superior holding, with the scoreline forecast placing the median total at 21 games.
The middle half of forecast outcomes runs from 18 to 27 games, leaving room for either a compact result or a longer contest. Snigur is the narrow pick, but the key observation is Bondar's ability to hold: if that survives this matchup, Snigur's strongest statistical advantage becomes harder to turn into a win.

Methodology and sources
How we build model estimates and where our information comes from.
Model estimates and observed results
The win probabilities come from the Court Shark match model, trained on completed ATP and WTA matches. A probability says how often a player in this position wins, not that one result will happen. The model's number for a match is recorded before play and never changed afterwards, so it can be checked against the result.
Sources and citations
Results, scores, rankings and serve statistics come from the Court Shark match database. The market consensus is the pre-match price for each player converted to a probability. Figures in this article are a snapshot taken when it was written.
Limitations
Serve and return rates count only matches with full serve statistics, which are sparser for Challenger and lower-level events, and the tour average they are compared with covers every year on record. Head-to-head records count every meeting with a recorded winner, walkovers and retirements included. Charts and tables are a snapshot and do not update after publication.
